Hello and Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my site! My name is Matt Schwartz and I am a freelance sound designer, re-recording mixer, engineer, and voice actor. I also do some teaching at the Los Angeles Recording School. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and in 2010 graduated from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film. Over the last several years working in Los Angeles, I have developed my craft by working on all different types of projects (feature films, shorts, commercials, web-series’, documentaries, etc), as well as by spending time both on and off set, and in the recording studio. I have a personal SFX library of over 500GB, a small studio set up to work and record in, and I love what I do.
I have also dedicated a great deal of time in the studio to working with musicians of all kinds. I have tracked/mixes vocals, guitars, drums, and other percussion on a variety of projects over the years. My first full length album entitled Terra Firma by the Woods Brothers was released in early 2016. Since then I have produced and mixed numerous EP's for other groups.
From a young age I've enjoyed the collaborative process. I truly appreciate the experience of actively collaborating with fellow filmmakers and friends (and thrive when it’s both). Though, truth be told, I never saw myself doing sound design specifically. I always loved film and storytelling, and grew up in a musical family, but I never thought to combine the two. Eventually in sound design I found a unique way to help people achieve their creative vision. I realized how important sound design was to film, and how many great projects suffer as a result of poor production and/or post sound. I have come to love the challenge of making a story clearer through sound and the fact that sound design is a different journey each time. Plus... its a lot of fun.
So, take a look around the site, and check out a few samples of my work. Please feel free to contact me with any questions for me or if you need help with anything sound related! My information can be found on the "Contact" page. Thank you again for visiting!
