My name is Matt Schwartz and I am a freelance audio engineer, sound designer, & re-recording mixer. I am originally from Dallas, Texas and graduated from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film. Over the last 15 or so years working in LA,  I have developed my skills by working in audio on all different types of projects, and with every type of client. And I even wrote audio curriculum and taught it for 3 years as at the Los Angeles Recording School. I love what I do.

 

     I have been fortunate over the years to have films that I've mixed distributed on most all major streaming platforms, including most recently the series Call Her Alex on Hulu.  My work has also been screened in many of the major film festivals around the world: Cannes, Tribeca, Sundance, and SXSW to name a few.

 

I have also worked on several major ad campaigns for clients like Mazda (Genres Campain, 2026), Royal Kingdom, Overstock.com, Jameson, Tostitos, and many more. In 2023, I received an EMMY AWARD for my audio work on the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Fox Sports. 

 

     From a young age I've been drawn to the collaborative process. I relish the experience of working with fellow filmmakers and friends (a bonus when it’s both) to achieve a common goal. And since my time at film school, I have realized how important sound design was to film’s success, and how many great projects suffer as a result of poor sound. In my sound design work, I have found a unique way to help people clarify and enhance their creative vision. I have come to enjoy the challenge of making a story clearer through its sound and love the fact that post-production sound is a different journey each time.
